About the Urban 302A
The Bozak Audio Lab Urban 302A is a 3-way floor-standing loudspeaker system introduced around 1966. It features a 30 cm coaxial speaker unit combining a 30 cm cone woofer (B-199A) and dual 5 cm cone tweeters (B-200Y), plus a 16 cm cone midrange driver (B-209B). The woofer cone is made from felted paper with wool mixed in pulp for light weight and low distortion bass. The tweeter and midrange diaphragms use a special metal damping method to suppress characteristic wild behavior, resulting in smooth playback. The crossover frequencies are set at 800 Hz and 2.5 kHz with a 6 dB/octave slope. The enclosure is finished with walnut oil and includes a multi-amplifier selector switch and terminals. It has an impedance of 8 ohms, rated input power of 20 watts, and frequency response from 40 Hz to 20 kHz. The cabinet dimensions are 600 mm wide, 765 mm high, and 500 mm deep, weighing 45.5 kg. The design is noted for its natural, full bass and clear midrange and treble reproduction, making it a classic vintage speaker with a warm, rich sound signature.
