About the Alpha USB 2
The Berkeley Audio Design Alpha USB Series 2 is an asynchronous USB 2.0 audio interface that converts digital audio from a computer or music server to a switch-selectable digital output: 75-ohm coaxial S/PDIF on BNC or balanced AES/EBU on XLR. It is designed as a noise-isolating, reclocking link between a USB source and a separate DAC. The manufacturer lists support for PCM up to 24-bit/192 kHz and compatibility with Apple, Windows, and Linux systems. The manufacturer’s product page and current dealer listings indicate that the Series 2 remains available; it is not identified as discontinued.
