About the Alpha
The Berkeley Audio Design Alpha DAC Reference is a high-performance digital-to-analog converter designed for audiophiles seeking exceptional audio fidelity. It supports input sampling rates from 32kHz to 192kHz and 24-bit word length. The unit features ultra-low phase noise precision clocking, multiple digital inputs including AES/EBU, SPDIF on BNC, and TosLink, and balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA analog outputs. It offers digital volume and balance control with fine steps, multiple user-selectable digital filters, and firmware upgradeability through signal inputs. The Alpha DAC Reference also supports HDCD decoding and MQA rendering for high-resolution audio playback. It is meticulously hand-tuned and built with proprietary technologies to minimize distortion and noise, delivering a frequency response of ±0.1dB from below 0.1Hz to 35kHz at standard sampling rates. The unit weighs 30 lbs and measures 17.5" x 3.5" x 12.5". It is suitable for integration with high-end audio systems and includes a remote control for all functions.
