About the 88 MkII
The Audiopax 88 MkII is a Brazilian-made, single-ended Class A1 tube monoblock power amplifier, an evolution of the original Model 88. Its design uses two KT88 output tubes and two 12AT7 driver tubes per monoblock in Audiopax’s ASTAT (Asymmetrical Series-Twin Amplifier Topology), with PTS (Perfect Triode Simulation) intended to shape the amplifier’s harmonic behavior toward that of low-power triode amplifiers. Timbre Lock allows the user to adjust the output-tube bias to tune the amplifier’s interaction with the loudspeakers. The MkII is an earlier version in the Model 88 family; later revisions followed, including A3, Special Edition, and A4.
