About the 88s

The AudioPax 88s are single-ended monoblock tube amplifiers using KT88 power tubes and 12AT7 pre-driver tubes in a proprietary single-ended pentode circuit evolved from a 1950s design. Each monoblock delivers 30 watts RMS into 8 ohms with zero global negative feedback. The amplifiers feature the exclusive Timbre Lock® system, which allows fine-tuning of the amplifier-speaker interface by adjusting tonal balance to minimize perceived distortion, a technology awarded by Hi-Fi News in 2003. The chassis is crafted from brass for its diamagnetic properties, reducing external magnetic interference. The 88s have a frequency response from 14 Hz to 90 kHz (-3 dB) and a signal-to-noise ratio greater than 90 dB. They include top-mounted toggle switches and LED-ringed potentiometers for bias and Timbre Lock adjustments.
