About the ATP-12T
The Audio Technica ATP-12T is a professional-grade high-mass tonearm suitable for low compliance cartridges, supporting cartridge weights from 3 to 23 grams. It features sealed vertical and horizontal ball bearing pivots for smooth operation and durability. The tonearm accommodates a wide range of turntable heights (approximately 28mm to 65mm) and mounting board thicknesses (5mm to 25mm), making it versatile for various setups. It has an effective length of approximately 257 mm, an overhang of 15 mm, and a mounting distance around 242 mm. The vertical tracking force (VTF) is adjustable from 0 to 5 grams, allowing precise cartridge setup. The tonearm uses an SME-type removable headshell, facilitating cartridge changes and compatibility. It is well-regarded for tight, punchy sound with good bass extension and tonal balance, often paired with cartridges like the Denon DL-103 for excellent performance. The ATP-12T is similar or identical to the Audio Technica AT 1503 tonearm, designed originally for broadcast applications.
