About the Sapphire XL

The Sapphire XL is a high-quality two-way monitor loudspeaker from Audio Concepts Inc. It features a 1" silk dome tweeter with ferro-fluid and an aperiodic second chamber, and a 5.5" Revelator series cast-frame mid/bass driver with a paper cone and rubber surround. The woofer uses a long throw, low distortion motor system with a vented pole piece. The speaker offers a frequency response of 48Hz to 20kHz ±3dB anechoic, with usable in-room response extending down to 38-40Hz. Sensitivity is 85.5dB/W/M and impedance is 6 ohms with low reactance. Power handling ranges from 20 to 200 watts. The cabinet has a unique "dual-depth" design to reduce internal standing waves and provide a stable, non-resonant enclosure, constructed from heavy MDF with elaborate bracing. Dimensions are 12" x 8.5" x 12.5" and each speaker weighs 22 lbs. Available finishes include Satin Black, Piano Black (extra cost), and Inlaid Cherry (extra cost).
