About the FMJ CD33
The CD33 incorporates a 192kHz upsampling digital-to-analog converter, utilizing two WM8740 stereo DACs from Wolfson Microelectronics in differential-mono mode. This setup minimizes linearity error and distortion by averaging the outputs of the four DACs. The player uses an Analog Devices AD1896 for upsampling CD data from 44.1kHz to 192kHz, allowing for gentler digital filters that reduce pre- and post-echoes on transients. The transport mechanism is sourced from Sony and supports CD-Text. The analog circuitry includes high-quality components like Burr-Brown's OPA2134 op-amps and WIMA polypropylene capacitors. The player's design also features vibration damping with Sorbothane pads and an aluminum heatsink for the audio circuitry board.
