About the Reference 3
The Reference 3 is a three-way floorstanding loudspeaker with a side-firing, dual-voice-coil 10-inch woofer, two 4-inch carbon-fiber midrange drivers, and a CDT piezoelectric tweeter. Its midrange and tweeter operate without a conventional crossover between them. A separate input connects the woofer’s second voice coil to the optional Reference 3 subwoofer amplifier, which can extend bass response to approximately 22 Hz. The speakers were sold as mirror-imaged pairs.
