About the Reference 3 SA
The Anthony Gallo Acoustics Reference 3 SA is a specialized subwoofer amplifier and controller designed to power and optimize the bass performance of the Reference 3 speaker series. It features a bridgeable stereo amplifier delivering 240 watts per channel in stereo mode and up to 650 watts in mono bridged mode. The unit includes a high-quality active crossover with continuously variable crossover frequency settings from 40Hz to 200Hz, independently adjustable for left and right channels. It also incorporates a sophisticated equalization circuit with a bass EQ cut/boost range from -3dB to +6dB in 1dB increments, allowing extension of bass response down to 22Hz flat, providing true subwoofer-level bass in full stereo without the need for an external subwoofer. The amplifier is stable down to 2 ohms stereo and 4 ohms mono, with recessed controls to prevent accidental changes. It supports dual phase controls for independent subwoofer adjustment and has an auto-on sensitivity of 5mV. Distortion is low, at 0.08% stereo and 0.1% mono under typical low-pass conditions. The Reference 3 SA is ideal for custom installations and fine-tuning multiple passive subwoofers or the dual voice coils of the Reference 3 speakers, enhancing bass extension and control significantly.
