About the A7
The Altec A7 is a two-way, high-efficiency horn loudspeaker system in the Voice of the Theatre family, originally designed for cinema sound and also used in studios and home audio. Its configuration varied by version and production period; typical systems combine a 15-inch woofer in a bass-horn enclosure with a compression driver and high-frequency horn. Published specifications for a later A7 version list a frequency response of 35 Hz–22 kHz, 97 dB sensitivity, 8-ohm nominal impedance, 200 W system capacity, and a 900 Hz crossover. The cabinet is approximately 30 × 24 × 54 inches and the system weighs about 170 lb; specifications and components differ among A7 variants.
