The PS Audio DirectStream DAC is designed to handle both PCM and DSD formats, utilizing a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) core processor. It features multiple digital inputs, including I2S, Coax, XLR, TosLink, and USB, with the ability to upsample all inputs to a high-rate DSD format. The modded version includes specific upgrades like replacing standard transformers with higher-grade Edcor XS4400 transformers and using JKRichards Overkill shielded HDMI and USB shorting plugs to reduce noise.
