Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. was a leading Japanese manufacturer of electrical and electronic products, founded in 1918 by Konosuke Matsushita. Known for its innovation and broad product range in home appliances, audio equipment (including the Technics and Panasonic brands), and other electronics, the company played a key role in popularizing technologies like the VHS tape format. In 2008, Matsushita unified its global branding as Panasonic Corporation, and the Matsushita name is now primarily of historical significance, with all major products marketed under the Panasonic brand worldwide.
